It is a moderate statement to claim that the benefits and merits of having adults gather to network -- whereby ideas, professional relationships, personal bounds, and similar are built and fostered -- is widely agreed upon as being positive to a community. DDAA shares this and will offer a quarterly luncheon series centered upon the collective themes of community unity and a love of all-things-sport. These professional-attire luncheons will serve many roles with DDAA, but primary among them is the advancement of our overall organizational mission to enhance the Durham citizen experience for all. These luncheons will be as follows: - Pre-lunch networking session
- Sit-down, white tablecloth fare
- Held in Downtown Durham (e.g., the Durham
- Convention Center or similar)
- Will have a program, such as an invited local sports personality (e.g., radio, local coach, etc.)
In addition, DDAA plans to have a Durham award(s) series that compliments the luncheon, and the following represent current thinking:
- High School
- Male high school athlete of the year
- Female high school athlete of the year
- Male football player of the year
- Coach of the year (mens and womens team)
- Team of the year (mens and womens)
- Middle School
- Male high school athlete of the year
- Female high school athlete of the year
- Male football player of the year
- Coach of the year (mens and womens team)
- Team of the year (mens and womens)
- Pre-middle
- Coach of the year
- Non-coach/player
- Commitments to excellence (variable)
